Hi there! I am Tahura, your soon-to-be coworker. You see when I first started, I used to watch YouTube videos, like “How do you start selling notion templates?” and all, but after watching tons of videos, it might be a bit confusing because everything is scattered around. And earning money aint as easy as they say in videos. I published my first template in April 2024. Then, I realized I needed much improvement in my skills and templates. Then, I published my 2-4 templates in September 2024. I finally earned the first $12 on January 01, 2025, by my 5th template, which I published on 30th December, 2024. As you see, it wasnt that easy. You only need a good guide and discipline to keep improving until you finally reach your first earnings. I hope this “Notion 101” will help you guide. However, I am not a perfectionist myself. I would love to guide you with what I have learned.

STEP 01: CHOOSE YOUR STRENGTH

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU ANSWER THEM ALL OVER AFTER A CERTAIN PERIOD WHEN YOU THINK IS THE RIGHT TIME FOR LEVELING UP.

Start by asking yourself,

• Why do you want to sell notion templates?
• What are you good at?
• What are your passions, or what do you enjoy doing the most?
• At your current level, what are the stats of your skill? Whether soft or hard skills, rate everything out of 10. Be brutal, of course.
• What problems can you solve for others with your skills?
• Whats trending right now in your area of interest or expertise? Its okay if you haven’t got any skills you are expert at or multiple average skills.
• Choose your target audience.
• Choose your template categories.
• Choose your tools.
• How much time and effort are you willing to invest? Try putting it into numbers. Also, it should not interfere much with your daily activities; it`s a side hustle, not your full-time job, so keep it simple. Yes, you might need to invest more time in the beginning.
• Choose 1-5 notion template creators to follow or to get inspiration.

STEP 02: DEFINE YOUR BOUNDARIES

THIS STEP IS ALL ABOUT SETTING CERTAIN LIMITS FOR YOURSELF AS A BEGINNER SO YOU DON`T OVERWORK YOURSELF, AND THIS IS ONLY FOR A CERTAIN TIME FRAME.

• Decide your time frame.
• What are the price frames of your templates? Normally, it depends on the template`s usefulness or the value it can give to others. But before deciding, you can check out the notion marketplace to know the standard prices of your chosen category/categories.
• List down the resources you have and the resources you wish you have. Now, google the ones that you don`t. See if any of the tools you can find online suit you.
• What are the non-negotiables in life right now?
• What are the things you are not willing to compromise on? Money is not a good choice because, as a beginner, you need to give discounts and coupon codes frequently.

STEP 03: RESEARCH YOUR NICHE

Know what works so you can create something better.

Research the type of templates in demand within your chosen category/categories. I would recommend that you choose one category at a time. Choosing multiple sounds nice and extra work. Lets avoid it. We dont want to sacrifice our QUALITY over QUANTITY.

STEP 04: CREATE YOUR CONCEPT LIST

Jot down any ideas that pop into your mind, lame or premium. You can decide later. If you think its not gonna work or wont get any attention, then work on WHY and HOW.
